Steven Gerrard is still attempting to drum up interest in Alfredo Morelos.

The striker has been the subject of constant transfer noise for two and a half seasons without any real evidence of a bid being made.

Jim White interviewed the Lille chairman on TalkSPORT a few weeks ago which seemed a very unusual set up in which Morelos was the centre of attention.

This year the former HJK Helsinki starlet has scored in just one SPFL match with the most prominent stat on his CV the seven red cards that he picked up during Gerrard’s first 18 months in charge at Ibrox.

The Sun reports:

Asked if the Colombian would still be a Rangers player following the international break, he said: “I don’t know. That’s a very difficult question for me to answer.

“I’m taking each day as it comes in terms of Alfredo. He’s trained really well this week but I really can’t control what other teams will do.

“All I can do is manage the situation on a daily basis. At the moment, where we stand right now, I expect to see him after the international break.

It seems that the signings of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten illustrate that Gerrard has lost patience with his top scorer of the last two seasons.

Itten missed yesterday’s 2-0 win over Hamilton while Jermain Defoe has still to make a competitive appearance after picking up a hamstring knock in pre-season.
