Most Celtic fans have reacted favourably to a rumour that Leigh Griffiths could go out on loan to Aberdeen.
Celtic Underground tweeted the claim in the early hours of Friday with the long running account having over 67,000 followers while tracking less than 100 other Twitter users.
Griffiths has slipped drastically down the pecking order at Celtic despite finishing last season with a hat-trick against St Mirren on March 7.
Playing alongside Odsonne Edouard the striker added a new dimension to Celtic’s play as Neil Lennon’s side stormed to the title with a 13 point lead and plus 25 goal difference advantage.
After coming back from Lockdown out of shape Griffiths was left out of Celtic’s three match trip to France and subjected to a scathing verbal attack from Lennon. Patryk Klimala and Albian Ajeti now appear to be ahead of Griffiths in the queue for a place alongside Edouard.
The former Hibs striker did get a 30 minute run out in a friendly against his old club but has been out of action for the last three weeks due to a calf strain.
Aberdeen’s plans for the season took a hammer blow when Sam Cosgrove was ruled out for four months with Curtis Main not featuring in their first two matches.
Derek McInnes did bring in Ryan Edmondson on loan from Leeds but he was injured on the opening day of the season and sent back to Yorkshire.
On the surface Griffiths moving to Aberdeen would seem to solve an issue for both clubs and the player but rarely is there anything straight-forward in the career of the striker who turned 30 on Thursday.
Aberdeen interested in Griffiths.

I’d have thought loaning him to Hibs, as part of a deal to bring in Boyle would be best option. Wages might be a problem though. Boyle would be good competition for Forrest, he seems to play better when there’s someone breathing down his neck. (small neck)

Griffiths can’t get fit or interested to play for the Champions in the 10 season ? I’m sure he’s going to bust a gut to play in the far north for that mob ? Griffiths has packed it in
