Celtic go into the draw for the Second Qualifying Round of the Champions League today with another draw sending out a warning. The one at Rugby Park.
Whatever was behind yesterday’s result at Kilmarnock can easily be repeated in Europe with matches played to a finish. Whether it’s a dodgy surface, the weather, sloppy defending or a bad day at the office there are a number of warnings if Celtic are to avoid a third season looking in from the outside on the Champions League.
1. Draw is at 11am tomorrow. We (and KR) will be drawn against one of the following. Again, its a one off match with the home team whoever is picked first.
Floriana (MLT) / CFR Cluj (ROU)
Ferencváros (HUN) / Djurgården (SWE)
KÍ (FRO) / Slovan Bratislava (SVK)— Moravcik67 (@Moravcik67_) August 9, 2020
Cluj are the stand-out possible opponents in today’s draw with the two teams meeting four times over the last year. Over those matches there was next to nothing between the two clubs with Cluj taking the main prize last summer of a place in the Champions League Play Off where they lost to Slavia Prague.
Celtic have to see off KR Reykjavík in the First Qualifying Round, although the draw gave Neil Lennon’s men a home tie the venue has still to be decided by UEFA.
