Lee O’Connor has completed his loan move to Tranmere Rovers.

The League Two club has shared the news with their fans with a player interview but so far there has been no mention of the move on Celtic’s in-house media channels.

Celtic signed O’Connor from Manchester United at the end of the summer 2019 transfer window but it was another recruit from across the city, Jeremie Frimpong, that kicked on moving almost instantly into Neil Lennon’s first team plans.

The lack of organised football outwith the first team didn’t do O’Connor or a couple of others any favours with a few Glasgow Cup ties and Reserve Cup matches arranged.

After three years at Old Trafford and progressing through the Irish youth system facing Gary Harkins as he winds down his career during a Glasgow Cup tie at Dumbarton isn’t likely to advance development. In November O’Connor made his full Ireland debut in a friendly against New Zealand.

Tranmere were relegated to League Two when the 2019/20 season was ended, with a sense of injustice they are among the favourites to win promotion with Mike Jackson taking over from Micky Mellon as manager.
