Kris Boyd has excused the Aberdeen Eight, claiming that their apology should bring the matter to an end.

Elsewhere in The Sun Bill Leckie calls for the players to be sacked but having £2m target Sam Cosgrove on their non-night out looks like saving the players from that outcome. The injured striker decided to head out into the city centre to add his support to the players who barely turned up for their opening game of the season.

On Saturday they again failed to turn up for the match away to St Johnstone, this time sanctioned by the Scottish Government and football authorities.

Across football, across Scotland there has been no support or excuses offered for the selfish actions of the players, drawing wages from supporters who have bought season tickets with no indication of when they might attend a live match.

Step forward Boyd, sharing his thoughts with The Sun he stated:

Aberdeen’s next two games have to be cancelled. The next game they should play is St Johnstone on August 20. I can’t criticise the players as we have all went out after games. They have come out and apologised and we have to move on from there.

Boyd has created a rivalry with Aberdeen supporters to curry favour with Ibrox fans, in his last season trying to play the game, season 2018/19 the Kilmarnock striker was sent off 22 minutes after appearing as a substitute at Pittodrie. The match ended in a 0-0 draw.
