Celtic are preparing a third bid for Alfie Doughty.

Lee Bowyer appears determined to hold onto the player but with Charlton freshly relegated to The Championship and in the midst of a takeover bid the decision could be taken out of the manager’s hands.

Celtic are believed to be looking for a left-back/wing-back option but most reports suggest that Doughty is mainly attack minded.

Moi Elyounoussi is back on loan from Southampton but with Mikey Johnston out injured since January Neil Lennon switched James Forrest over to the left for the match against Ross County.

According to The Sun:

CELTIC are poised to launch a third bid to try to land Charlton kid Alfie Doughty. Hoops boss Neil Lennon has stepped up his interest in the 20-year-old after Boli Bolingoli’s exit.

Celts have had two bids for versatile, left-sided Doughty rejected by the Addicks but they hope a third offer of around £800,000 will be enough to seal a deal for the youngster.

Doughty signed a two year contract last summer after a short spell on loan at Bromley.

His development into starting almost half of last season’s Championship fixtures would be double edged for Charlton.

If he continues to develop this season he will be able to leave for a development fee next summer, if Celtic offer £800,000 with some form of add-ons it could be difficult for Charlton to resist.
