Albian Ajeti is expecting to be fit and available for the Glasgow derby on October 17.

The striker suffered a hamstring injuring scoring against Hibs on Sunday with most forecasts predicting that he’d be missing for a minimum of three or four weeks.

Celtic have been nursing Ajeti back to fitness after a year on the sidelines at West Ham with the Swiss internationalist yet to play a full 90 minutes.

With five goals in 238 minutes he has hit the ground running with The Sun reporting that the player is confident of being available for the top-of-the-table showdown that is just 18 days away:

DEADLY Celtic striker Albian Ajeti expects to be FIT for the Rangers game on October 17.

SunSport understands the crocked Hoops frontman – who has delivered five goals in nine games – has pulled out of the Switzerland squad for their trio of games against Croatia, Spain and Germany.

But the 23-year-old is confident two weeks of treatment on the hamstring strain suffered while scoring in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Hibs will leave him ready to take on Steven Gerrard’s men.

Ajeti is desperate to make the Gers showdown after dramatically rejuvenating his career following his £5million switch from West Ham United where he was a mere fringe player.

Neil Lennon will be without his new striker for the matches against Sarajevo and St Johnstone before his squad splits up for the international break.

With Odsonne Edouard struggling for form and fitness a quick return for Ajeti would be a very welcome boost for the Celtic boss.

Moi Elyounoussi has scored in the last two matches with Patryk Klimala and Leigh Griffiths the other striking options.
