Andrew Dallas managed to get through 90 minutes on Saturday without attracting too much attention- which just goes to show that he is capable of properly applying the laws of the game.

There was next to nothing for either side to complain about in the performance of the Lanarkshire official, unlike his recent performance at Dundee United where he struggled even to keep note of the time and to measure out 10 yards.

Celtic social media made enough of that display to alert others including Dallas Mini that he was being watched carefully- or one for the watching as some fans would put it.

Awarding a third minute penalty doesn’t happen too often as referees manage games to suit themselves but the Laws of the Game are the same from the first whistle until the last.

Odsonne Edouard got away from his markers, was fouled in the box and tucked away the penalty with full efficiency. 1-0 Celtic.

The bhoys went on to win 5-0 without any savage physical attacks on any of their players, all should be fit and well for Wednesday at St Mirren.

John Beaton, another Lanarkshire referee, will be in charge of that one. Which Dallas example will he follow as Celtic look to close in on the top of the SPFL table?
