Steven Gerrard was back into his Big Box of Paranoia at the weekend as he discussed a knee injury to Alfredo Morelos.

Running towards each other the striker and Ryan Edwards made contact with the defender’s follow through leaving a small gash above his opponents’ knee.

When it comes to mind games the rookie Ibrox boss isn’t anywhere close to Alex Ferguson or Jose Mourinho but after being told throughout his playing career how special he was he does like to try.

After his first domestic match, two years ago when Morelos was sent off away to Aberdeen, Gerrard claimed that decisions had been going against his club for years.

Attempting to be wise, after Morelos’ injury on Saturday Gerrard speculated with a compliant media about what would have happened if his player has been the aggressor in the incident.

Fast forward to January 2019 when Morelos booted his way through the Celtic team with the support of John Beaton and Gerrard was singing a very different tune. Complaints about his striker were answered with reference to violins and crying wolf.

This time Mister Gerrard had the violin out. Kevin Clancy was the referee, the same official that felt that Jon Flanagan elbowing Scott Brown in the face awaiting a corner in May 2019 was only worth a yellow card. Perhaps in future the former England ace will be more careful with his comments, perhaps not.
