Tom Rogic’s proposed move to Qatar looks like breaking down.

Neil Lennon recently confirmed that talks were underway for the midfielder with Celtic buying David Turnbull after the news first emerged.

At the age of 27 Rogic should be at his peak with the appeal of Qatar more economic than as a career move for the player who has made a speciality of delivering on the big occasion.

The Sun reports:

CELTIC star Tom Rogic’s £4million move to Qatar looks like collapsing.

SunSport understands negotiations have stalled after Hoops ace Rogic was supposed to jet to the Middle East for talks this week.

That didn’t happen and it’s believed the 27-year-old is having second thoughts over going to a lower-profile league.

Rogic, currently out injured, has spent seven years with the Hoops after a bargain £400,000 move from Central Coast Mariners in 2013.

He’s still got three years of his contract left and boss Neil Lennon has made it clear he’s happy for him to stick around.

Since being injured at the Asian Cup in January 2019 Rogic’s involvement and influence on Celtic has been on the wane. So far this season he has made the bench twice but failed to be sent on against Hamilton on Reykjavik.

Neil Lennon signed Rogic in January 2013 but after being in and out of contention he hit top form under Brendan Rodgers in 2016 with a string of important goals including the memorable Scottish Cup Final winner over Aberdeen that clinched the Invincible Treble.

If the move to Qatar falls through Celtic will retain a tried and tested midfielder but without full fitness there will be doubts over whether he will play a part in Lennon’s plans for the season.
