David Tanner jumped the gun last night in his excitement over the prospect of Odsonne Edouard missing the Glasgow derby on October 17.
His reaction mirrored the glee across Ibrox social media that the Celtic striker would be missing from their next SPFL fixture.
It seems that the doctor Tanner consulted gave him the wrong self-isolation period, he also managed to get the date of the match wrong and forgot to wish the player ‘Get Well Soon’ which is standard practise for these type of stories. His initial tweet was deleted after Celtic commented on the positive test.
Since Sky Sports opted out of renewing his contract to cover Scottish football, replacing their long running anchor man with Hayley McQueen, Tanner has become increasingly desperate to get a media role in Scottish football.
Hosting pub Question and Answer sessions with former Ibrox heroes isn’t the most lucrative of income streams but with just 11,000 followers on Twitter he isn’t likely to interest many media outlets.
This season Tanner pops up as TalkSPORT’s Scottish football expert and also presents Hibs TV live coverage of fixtures, next week he’ll be covering their Betfred Cup matches against Brora Rangers, Cove Rangers and Forfar (not Rangers).

Apologies.
Correction: it’s TEN days self-isolation as it’s a positive test.
He’ll be clear for Celtic v Rangers!
Thanks to my favourite football Doctor for clearing that up!
Get well soon, Odsonne. https://t.co/wceye3roz2— David Tanner (@DavidTannerTV) October 6, 2020
That’s your 2nd tweet David, one could sense the excitement you exuded in that first tweet so don’t now try to come across as being caring. You almost ejaculated at the thought of Celtic not having Edouard for the game.

The game is also the 17th not the 16th as you stated earlier ?

Hope so. ??

So excited you nearly forgot the token ‘get well soon’ ?
— Glasgow Ghost (@GlasgowGhost) October 7, 2020
You must be raging at that eh?

Don’t tell you head doctor you were speaking to him, he’ll get jealous ?
— austin pingpong (@austindonnelly3) October 7, 2020
Noticed you never said get well soon in your original tweet. Why would that be?

He can still train. He won’t be training with team mates but he can still keep himself fit. Anyway, he’s up against Tav and Goldson. If back on song he could take both on without sleeping never mind training.

He’ll still miss the game on the 16th as it’s scheduled for Saturday the 17th ? get well soon David

Seriously? Let’s just pray he recovers from this horrible virus. The Rangers game is last on the list! Horrendous line of thinking .

Celtic have their own testing facilities, all players will be tested regularly. The public don’t get retested which is why the 10/14 day rule is in place.
