Ralph Hasenhuttl took almost as much enjoyment from Moi Elyounoussi’s double against Lille as Neil Lennon.

Back in June the Southampton boss agreed to allow the winger to spend another season on loan at Celtic meaning that the Norwegian internationalist will have spent more time in Glasgow than in the EPL when his latest loan expires.

Southampton paid Basel £15m to sign Elyounoussi in the summer of 2018 but after a difficult first season on the south coast Hasenhuttl is still hopeful that he can do a turn for his parent club.

Hampshire Live reports the Southampton boss saying:

I am very deeply invested in what my loan players do and I am very happy for [Elyounoussi] that he scored and I am happy to see it. And, definitely, the player has a chance to maybe come back in and to be a part of the team, maybe next year.

With a contract running through until 2023 Southampton are still very much in control of Elyounoussi’s future but for now Celtic fans will be looking for a continuation of his recent form.

A year ago the former Basel man was in sparkling form before his season effectively ended in November when he picked up a foot injury.

With three goals from two Europa League ties Lennon will be hoping that the 26-year-old can transfer his scoring form into the domestic platform.
