Chris Sutton seems as subdued as his close friend and former team-mate Neil Lennon while Celtic’s season runs into sinking sands.
Yesterday’s 3-3 draw at Aberdeen broke a run of back-to-back defeats but there wasn’t any consolation in the performance or result.
After failing to register a shot on target during the Glasgow derby the return of Tom Rogic played a major factor at Pittodrie with two assists from the Australian as things started to come together in attack.
Unfortunately, it was also falling apart at the back. For reasons no one could fathom Olivier Ntcham gave away a pointless first half penalty. Shane Duffy was caught short at the second with the third Aberdeen goal from the penalty spot a collective failure in game management.
Sutton is usually quickly onto social media to share his take on any Celtic match, yesterday he held back until appearing on BBC 5 Live where the draw at Aberdeen featured highly in the calls to his show with Robbie Savage.
There are circumstances involved in Celtic’s recent downturn but it’s more than the absence of Odsonne Edouard, James Forrest and Chris Ajer. Hatem Abd Elhamed and Nir Bitton wouldn’t be close to a First XI.
Something far deeper is wrong, Lennon seems almost sedated in the dug-out, serial winners are miles off form.
On Thursday Sutton will switch over to BT Sport for the Europa League tie against Lille, Lennon will again be central to the issue as Celtic fans strap in for what looks like another testing and concerning 90 minutes.
Do you agree with this Celtic fan on Neil Lennon??? https://t.co/kfCozvUyfP

Them mistakes come from how well prepared you r for the game ie training during the week the whole build up and going by Lenny’s body language in the dug out today I couldn’t imagine what training had been like during the week

Its the here & now!! Look at Lennon sat on the bench, mumbling away…Mistakes are being made but FFS, even calmac is making mistakes..NL indecision etc is making good players bad players in just a few months. The coaching is the problem here.

A lot of players Have regressed – Cal Mc, Christie, Edouard, Ajer gradually over the past 7-8 months. These are not the same players as under BR….Coaching and the set up is the major difference and NL has to take full responsibility for this! D Duff a huge loss

As a dons fan I haven’t seen Lennon so quiet and subdued. Whether it’s down to losing the dressing room or interest I’m not sure

Chris, you’d have been ripping Ronny Deila apart for performances and results like this. And you well know it.

I give you lots of likes steph. Consider this my biggest like to date x

In a way I agree with the caller. Celtic have recently been far too underwhelming with a range of problems. However we’ve seen Celtic have poor spells during many recent seasons which raises the concern: could this just be a bad spell? Or has Lenny lost the dressing room?
— Olivier El Barkas (@SpaceCelt) October 25, 2020
Sadly so Chris. Lenny is a huge Celtic fan and a Celtic man but this current team don’t look like they are playing for him at all.
Lenny himself looks like a man defeated, body language is poor and he hasn’t moved out of the Dugout in 3 weeks ?????— Eric Brennan (@ericbrennan_) October 25, 2020
Yes Chris I agree, I think Neil has lost the dressing room and has no respect from any players in the team now and it’s time for him to go, am sorry as I know you are mates but enough is enough
