The SFA has ignored an attempt by the Daily Record to issue Scott Brown with a retrospective suspension following Sunday’s 3-3 draw at Aberdeen.

Sunday’s match passed off without any real controversy despite three penalties being awarded by referee Willie Collum.

More than 24 hours after the final whistle the Daily Record decided to highlight an incident between Brown and Aberdeen substitute Scott Wright which was overlooked by almost every other media outlet.

It was the sort of collision that is commonplace every weekend in a contact sport where players jostle for possession with nothing made of the ‘clash’ at the time it happened. It wasn’t raised by Derek McInnes in his after match interviews.

Late on Monday night the Record decided to highlight the ‘incident’ and the prospect of a retrospective ban, however they now report:

SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte cast an eye over the claimed offence but it appears the case will not go to a fast-track tribunal.

An SFA insider said: “We don’t believe there will be a notice of complaint issued to Scott Brown”

Brown will be available for selection against Aberdeen on Sunday in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.
