Neil Lennon has revealed that a board meeting the day after Celtic’s defeat from AC Milan went pretty smoothly.

Back-to-back home defeats jarred with much of the Celtic support but the listless performances and apparently passive approach of the manager set alarm bells ringing.

There were clear mitigating factors in the performances but after a patchy start to the season the fears of many supporters spilled across Social Media.

With no fans allowed into matches Social Media is viewed as the main outlet for supporters to express their views with not many fans taking on board the ‘Keep The Faith’ messages.

Lennon was there for the Celtic board in their moment of need in February 2019 with Peter Lawwell ignoring other applicants to make the job permanent three months later after winning the Scottish Cup at Hampden.

Asked about the level of support from the board, Lennon told the Daily Record:

I speak to Peter every day. We had a board meeting on Friday and that went pretty smoothly. I’m not out here on my own. I have got great support from Peter and the board, I have got great support from my backroom team who are really strong at the minute. That shows the inner strength we have here at the club.

Lennon’s next four matches involve two Europa League ties, a Scottish Cup semi-final and SPFL trip to Motherwell.
