Chris Sutton believes that Celtic must spend the last three days of the transfer window finding a left-sided defender.

Since the Boli Bolingoli incident came to light almost a month ago Greg Taylor has been the only option on the left-hand side.

James Forrest switched wing away to Ross County but that option is currently unavailable with Taylor trying to develop his game into a wing-back from a more traditional defensive role.

To play 3-5-2 wing-backs are essential to give the team balance to feed the strikers with Sutton making his feelings very clear to Daily Record readers:

The door should be bolted shut in terms of departures and there has to be signings made as well. We all know what Celtic need. They are screaming out for a left full back or wing back to help out Greg Taylor.

They’ve lost Jonny Hayes and Boli Bolingoli, so you could argue they need two more. The side is far too lopsided at the moment and Jeremie Frimpong is constantly tasked with providing the attacking intent from the wide areas

Celtic have been credited with making an offer for Charlton’s Alfie Doughty but the League One side don’t seem in a rush to conclude business.

With less than 40 Charlton appearances to his name is debateable how ready Doughty is for the prizes that are on offer to Celtic this season.
