Kieran Tierney’s decision to share an image of his Celtic and Arsenal shin-guards following the win over Chelsea certainly brought out the extremes in Celtic supporters.
While some think that anyone leaving the club is Judas at best others take a more balanced view, taking in the circumstances involved and the obvious passion and affection that he has for the club that he supported and played for.
When playing football becomes your job, when you are regularly injured in an environment where you seem to be fair game and where your employers are keen to make a £25m profit things change.
Throughout the 2018/19 season Tierney played in games that he shouldn’t have but with no suitable back-up the supporter in him wanted to get out on the park when the professional with a 15-year career span at most would have told him to hold back.
In previous seasons Ryan Bowman had planted his studs high on Tierney’s thigh and went unpunished. Likewise Jayden Stockley sent the defender from the midst of a cup final to the local A & E ward with a challenge that Bobby Madden managed to miss.
Tierney left Celtic as a serial winner, his £25m transfer fee has largely been squandered shows the direction that the club is mired in. Tierney’s place in the history books is assured.

KT is as entitled as any of us to change employer. Who wouldn’t take the opportunity of better wages, conditions, facilities, a new challenge in their work place? We thank him for and remember his contribution, we move on and so does he.

There’s owt wrong with that
Celtic is in his heart and Arsenal is where he is
His effort is unquestionable he put ? in every time ????????— Kevin Smith (@Kevin4fingers23) December 27, 2020
Some of the people on here need help. There’s more important things to worry about. This young man gave a serious amount of his time and effort to Celtic. Oh hell mend him for trying to better himself.
He’ll always be a Celt to me ?— stephen65 (@stephen6516) December 27, 2020
Quite sad really considering he gave absolutely everything, and nearly ruined his career playing through injury for the team
