Michael Stewart believes Celtic must return to Southampton to sign Fraser Forster- whatever it takes.
The BBCÂ pundit was speaking after another underwhelming performance from Vasilis Barkas as Celtic crashed to a 4-2 defeat away to AC Milan as the depressing stats piled up.
Last week it was Scott Bain in goals as they lost 4-1 away to Sparta Prague with the two keepers shipping 17 goals in five Europa League ties.
A year ago Forster was a hero of the wins over Lazio before going on to dominate the Betfred Cup Final as Celtic claimed the only trophy played to a conclusion last season.
On the surface it would seem an easy fix to bring Forster back from Southampton but if all the transfer hurdles were overcome to secure a deal they would be faced with a very uncomfortable home truth- every new signing at Celtic this season has bombed.
Shane Duffy was the Great Defensive Hope but the Iron Man wilted as everything around him collapsed. Albian Ajeti started with a flurry of goals but has drifted out quickly with Patryk Klimala sent on ahead of him last night in the San Siro.
David Turnbull has played 131 minutes across six appearances since his £3m move from Motherwell.
Even from the bench at Southampton it is debatable whether Forster would risk his reputation to return to a sinking ship as the problems pile up on Neil Lennon on a daily basis.
Wouldn’t surprise me if Celtic are already trying desperately to get Forster back on some sort of deal. Goalkeeping position is desperate just now. While the defence simply cannot continue to making the mistakes they are if they’ve any hope of resurrecting their season.

We can only hope and pray they are trying to get him back.the team have no confidence in the keepers. Young hazzard should be given a go, got to be better than the 2 we have. And he must be chomping at the bit to get in the mix

Should be trying desperately to find another manager

Forster is a big loss for Celtic made that defence look much better than it is

2 quality goalies walked away within months of each other, the question is Why? Answers on a postcard to Neil Francis Lennon, The Celtic Way, Glasgow G40 3RE

the two goalkeepers we lost were better than what we have, the two wingers lennon got rid off were better than we have – no player has improved under lennon, most of his signings don’t get a game and he has stopped the youths playing in the top team.

It would surprise me after shelling out £5m in the summer. They want to be investing in 2 centre backs, a right back and trying to convince Laxalt to stay beyond the end of the season. I can’t decide if the keeper’s shite or a bus driver.

Michael it’s done. It’s absolutely finished. This Celtic board are the architects of the clubs downfall. Lennon is just a symptom of Lawwell. Lennons not got a clue either he’s finished and he knows it. Goalkeepers aren’t going to save this season.

1st goal aya Barkas should have done better, but not much chance with the others, the defending however was scandalous, elhamed is shown up in Europe, midfield too easy to get through, Christie prob trying too hard but he is not as good as HE thinks he is

Gordon should’ve been offered more money, missed out on Jon McLaughlin too who is on a par with Gordon and is younger. Was the reason Forster didn’t want to go back ever released? Whoever decided to pay £5m for Barkas needs to be sacked. Did they pick Duffy too?
