Anthony Joseph expects Celtic to sign a goalkeeper when the transfer window opens in four weeks’ time.
Last week Scott Bain lost four goals away to Sparta Prague, tonight Vasilis Barkas lost four to AC Milan in the San Siro after Celtic had taken an early two goal lead.
Constant chopping and changing of formation and players hasn’t helped but there is little doubt that the excellence of Fraser Forster from last season is casting a shadow over this season’s incumbents.
Not really sure what Vasilis Barkas brings to the table. He’s only been at Celtic a few months, but I can’t see standout qualities – shot-stopping, commanding his area etc. Celtic don’t have time to wait for him to get settled and it’s why they’ll be looking for a keeper in Jan.

Forster apparently had the chance to rejoin Celtic on loan during the summer but when that move fell through they switched their attention to Barkas who cost £4m from AEK Athens.
Little has gone right for the Greek keeper, he has avoided any real howlers but tonight failed to stop the sort of efforts that Forster thrived on in last season’s Europa League victories over Lazio.
Forster is under contract at Southampton until June 2022 but has spent this season as understudy to Alex McCarthy.
