Marian Shved looks like being given a second chance at Mehelen after their Sporting Director intervened.

The winger joined the Belgian side on what was agreed to be a season long loan deal but was recently the subject of a stinging attack from manager Wouter Vrancken.

Almost every aspect of Shved’s attitude was called into question including the claim that he’d be better off spending his time playing billiards!

The 23-year-old has been an unused substitute in recent matches but Sporting Director Tom Kaluve is confident that things can pick up without the loan being cut short.

He told the Daily Record:

We had a conversation with the player and the manager together. We will try to do everything so that Marian becomes the player in Mechelen that he was in Ukraine before.

He is a very talented football player and a good guy. It cannot be called problematic at all. We have already seen a reaction from him in training. I am confident that he will become an important player for us for the rest of the season.

Shved has made three substitute appearances for Mechelen totalling 55 minutes which is in line with his game time at Celtic last season.

With his Celtic contract running through until June 2023 it looks like Shved will be back in Scotland at some stage in 2021 with the prospect of a career at Celtic looking highly unlikely.
