Whether or not he has heard of Neil McCann or not isn’t known but Odsonne Edouard wasn’t affected by the criticism that his penalty against Hearts received from the former Dundee boss.
During live coverage of Sunday’s match against Hearts McCann told Radio Scotland listeners that the Panenka style penalty from the Frenchman was disrespectful and selfish. Later on, during BBC Scotland’s Sportscene he repeated the claim.

Elsewhere in football a successful Panenka is something to celebrate- to admire the nerve and execution of the taker in a high pressure moment. Failure with a Panenka isn’t something that you want to contemplate.
Not many players score in successive Scottish Cup Finals but that is now another achievement to add to the list notched up by the young Frenchman who joined Celtic in the summer of 2017.
There is no etiquette on penalties, you either score from them or you miss. In a result driven business Edouard is a serial winner, after one stint in management McCann seems to be sticking to the less demanding world of punditry.
Watch the Panenka penalty 40 seconds.
