In the build up to the match there was plenty of speculation over whether or not the veteran would be back in the Celtic side but when the teams were led out at Hampden Brown had the armband on, ready to battle.
Typically he was on the receiving end of some late challenges from Steven Naismith, just as predictably John Beaton opted not of punishing the Hearts skipper for a 17th minute stamp on the Celtic icon.

Soon afterwards Celtic were in front thanks to a brilliant effort- when Odsonne Edouard doubled the lead Brown couldn’t hold back as he whooped it up at the Panenka style penalty that seemed to upset Neil McCann so much.
At that stage it looked like plain sailing for Celtic but this season little has gone to plan but when the action was over it was the familiar sight of Brown lifting the trophy, his 22nd as a Celtic player.
