Gheorghe Hagi has denied that he is in discussions to become the next manager of Celtic.

The 55-year-old has had an unspectacular career in management, having to buy his own club to get back involved after a short stint in charge of Galatasaray.

Last night a couple of reports from Romania claimed that Hagi was looking for a change of club with Celtic apparently in discussions over a replacement for Neil Lennon.

Using the Viiturol, his lub in Romania, website, he stated:

Following the articles published in all the sports press in Romania, regarding the alleged discussions with Celtic I specify that they do not exist, they are completely false speculations, without having any real basis.

With the situation at Celtic there are bound to be agents looking to get their client linked with a potential vacancy.

Management decisions tend to be the work of two men- Peter Lawwell or Dermot Desmond. With Lawwell the driving fore behind Lennon and Ronny Deila it looks more like Desmond will be in charge of the next appointment with the multi-millionaire businessman unlikely to have been head hunting in Romania.

A tried and tested UK based coach or up and coming name from Europe is more likely to be in contention than a 55-year-old in Romania with little in the way of a track record.
