Jeremie Frimpong is poised to join Bayer Leverkusen, leaving Celtic with a cryptic message about his demands.

The 20-year-old spent 18 months at Celtic making a huge impact on the team and supporters with his enterprising style of play and refreshing attitude.

Somewhere over the last couple of months things seem to have gone badly wrong with the Rising Ballers Instagram account quoting a statement reading:

“I dreamed the dream but my demands haven’t been met, you’ll see what I mean”

In the age of Social Media it is increasingly common for footballers to leave their comments open to interpretation. Are the demands professional or financial is the big question?

Frimpong arrived at Celtic in the same project bracket as Luca Connell, Johnathan Afolabi and Lee O’Connor believing that a move north of the border could catapult their career forward.

The Dutch born Manchester City prospect is the only one of that quartet to make a first team appearances but his substitute appearance last week in the snow of Livingston will be his last as a Celtic player.

A transfer fee of £11.5m is welcome at any time but with 30% of the fee going back to Manchester City Celtic fans will have to watch from afar to see what demands the young Dutchman was referring to.

Leverkusen are currently in third place in the Bundesliga and face Young Boys for a place in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Rising Ballers has 443,000 followers on Instagram.
