Neil Lennon has revealed that he isn’t certain that Celtic can go with his diamond midfield into tomorrow’s Glasgow Derby.

Celtic have won each of their last four SPFL matches without losing a goal with the side anchored by Ismaila Soro allowing David Turnbull to play in a more advanced midfield role.

Moi Elyounoussi started on the left against Kilmarnock with Jeremie Frimpong on the right but in the games against Ross County, Hamilton and Dundee United Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie have fulfilled those positions.

That system has allowed Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard to re-establish their partnership in attack, with that duo plus Turnbull scoring eight of the nine goals notched in the last three matches.

Asked if a midfield diamond was the strongest option currently available, Lennon said:

Possibly, it is one that is working for us at this minute, it gives me two strikers on and good legs in midfield as well. And it suits the players at the minute but, I don’t know if I will go with that, if I afford to go with that at the weekend, we’ll assess it over the next few days.

Scott Brown, Elyounoussi and Mikey Johnston are options to bring into the side but it would be quite a risk to change a midfield that seems to be working well.

Steven Gerrard will be without the aggression of Scott Afield and Ryan Jack which virtually assures veteran Steve Davis of a starting place.
