Chris Jullien is facing a three or four month lay off from the injury that he sustained early in the second half of Celtic’s 3-0 win over Dundee United on Wednesday.

The precise nature of the injury isn’t known but it looked serious when the defender’s leg collided with the post after making a goal-line clearance.

Nir Bitton replaced Jullien against United and was in from the start at Ibrox today, playing alongside Kris Ajer until he got a second half red card.

Neil Lennon was asked pre-match by Sky Sports about Jullien#s injury with the Daily Record reporting:

The Hoops boss said: “He’s a very important player. It’s a bad injury, we are going to lose him for a period of time, perhaps three or four months.”

Video Celts understands that Celtic were ready to cut short Shane Duffy’s season long loan from Brighton but that could not be put on hold with Lennon short of defensive options.

Bitton isn’t really reliable enough to play in that position with Hatem Abd Elhamed and Stephen Welsh the other options to play alongside Ajer.
