The day after Peter Lawwell’s departure was greeted with emotional tributes it was business as usual for Neil Lennon’s side as they went down to a 2-1 home defeat from St Mirren.

Lennon was fulsome in his praise for his departing boss but again failed to get anything worthwhile out of a squad that has failed miserably this season and looking increasingly disinterested.

Over the last three months Ross County, St Johnston, Hibs, Livingston and St Mirren have left Celtic Park undefeated without having to excel.

Lawwell’s business plan has been hailed as visionary down the years but as he prepares to take over Dominic McKay was given a brutal reminder of the massive overhaul that he will inherit on July 1. Very little at the club is operating to Champions League standards that Lawwell often boasted of installing.

St Mirren took a first half lead through Dylan Connolly in the 16th minute but Odsonne Edouard showed a touch of class to level in the 32nd minute.

The visitors weren’t deterred a couple of minutes later Kristian Dennis took advantage of hesitant defending to score the winning goal with only a stoppage time header from Duffy coming close to an equaliser.
