The words Null and Void lit up the internet overnight following a Question and Answer session between Neil Doncaster and daily newspapers.
Scottish football endured a bitter and divisive spring in 2020 after football was halted on March 13 with most top flight teams having completed 30 of their 38 fixtures.
As it became obvious that the season couldn’t be resumed as the 20/21 season and a new broadcasting deal came into sight Scottish football fell out with itself.
France and Belgium led the way as the decided their season’s based on Points Per Game, eventually in Scotland, after numerous statements and declarations a vote was passed to decide the lower three divisions on PPG. With European places and relegation delicately poised a decision on the Premiership was delayed before Celtic were crowned as champions with Hearts relegated.
This week the two lower SPFL divisions were suspended for three weeks, in England there is talk about suspending football as the effects of the second wave exceeds the first.
A year ago UEFA postponed the European Championships but that seems unlikely to happen again. Last season they completed the Champions League and Europa League competitions in a knock-out format in one country. That template could be used again for the European Championships rather than spreading it across 12 cities.
If the Euros go ahead in June there is no scope to extend the season. With no mandate given to the board of the SPFL if the Premiership is suspended the Null and Void option could be applied.

It’s the right thing to do. #nullamdvoid #stripthetities

I think it’s a very sensible option. With this pandemic running riot it would b wise to null and void it before any team can feel hard done by. Best to do it while only a handful of games have been played.

I would never stop laughing…

Of course it’s an option. Nowhere near 75% of games and sponsorship now not as big issue due to Covid knowns

Has to be null and void – several issues will surface across Scottish football and down south over the next few days. UEFA now considringn the options for Euro prep and getting all players vaccinated in time.
