Celtic have been linked with a move for Spurs project Japhet Tanganga.
Late on Thursday afternoon it became clear that there was no chance of signing Ben Davies from Preston with the defender believed to be undergoing a medical at Liverpool today.

He will find out later if he’ll be allowed out on loan. Two Premier League clubs are also interested.

Rather than give Stephen Welsh the chance to get some top team experience it seems like Tanganga, without an EPL appearance to his name is about to be dropped into a struggling squad.
Welsh has started three matches this season, twice on the right of an awkward looking back three back in October as Celtic lost the Glasgow derby and to AC Milan in the Europa League.
When 13 players had to self-isolate he came in at sweeper against Hibs, impressed with his play and organisational skills then went back to the bench for the back-to-back matches against Livingston.
Against St Mirren on Saturday he replaced Nir Bitton in central defence but looks like dropping behind Tanganga if the 21-year-old is signed up.
In the summer Welsh signed a new contract keeping him at Celtic until June 2023.
