A Twitter account that seems very sympathetic and close to someone in the Desmond family has warned Celtic fans that there is unlikely to be a quick change of manager.

At the start of December supporters were told that Neil Lennon still had the backing of the hierarchy but that a managerial review would be conducted in the new year.

When the statement was made Celtic were 13 points behind in the SPFL Premiership, now after one win in six during January Lennon is taking a squad to Kilmarnock tomorrow night trailing by 23 points in second place.

Peter Lawwell has apologised for the training trip to Dubai and announced that he is walking away on June 30 but no one in the club appears to be prepared to address dire performances on the park and the erratic behaviour of the manager.

The last time I can remember such a furore for the manager to be fired was after losing to Rangers in the Scottish Cup Semi Final. At that time the club remained patient, conducted a full review, concluded that a new direction was required and put that plan into effect, and it led to a Quadruple Treble.

Not to say the exact same thing will happen on this occasion but it does show the merit of making sure you make correct decisions rather than popular ones.

The popular decisions are not always the right ones to make. Everything is fluid and situations reviewed hourly far less weekly.

It’s in nobody’s interests at Celtic to have fans angry. The people making decisions are fans themselves. I hope this at least makes people consider that everything is being done in the best interests of Celtic and the fans.

There is no knowing for definite who is behind that message but Liam O’Hare had a good dig into the account.
