Neil Lennon believes that Olivier Ntcham was fed up with Scottish football.

On Monday the midfielder completed a loan move to Marseilles but the following day Andre Villas-Boas was suspended by the French side for voicing his opposition to the move.

It now looks less than certain that Ntcham’s move will become permanent in the summer which could return the issue to Celtic.

Covering his pre-match interview on their live match blog, BBC Scotland reports:

Celtic manager Neil Lennontells BBC Scotland why Olivier Ntcham wanted out of Celtic, with the Frenchman sealing a loan move on transfer deadline day to Marseille.

“It’s not the club he’s unhappy with, I think just his life in Glasgow,” he says. “I think he was a bit fed up and indifferent with the Scottish game and he wanted a different challenge.”

Ntcham left school in Paris to join Manchester City before spending a year in Italy on loan at Genoa.

In July 2017 Brendan Rodgers signed him in a £4.5m deal from City with the French u-21 internationalist making an instant impact as he nailed down a place in the Celtic midfield, finishing the season with his ninth goal in the Scottish Cup Final win over Motherwell.

Unless things happen quickly for the midfielder who’ll turn 25 next week he could be back at Celtic in the summer with a year left on his contract.
