Kris Boyd has thrown the Ibrox Five under the bus and absolved the club of any blame or responsibility for the actions of five players inside their bubble.

Earlier this season the former Portland Striker net-marksman wanted Celtic docked points after Boli Bolingoli decided to take a trip to Spain between matches. The travel was legal but the player should have isolated but didn’t tell anyone at Celtic about his midweek adventure.

At Ibrox over the weekend five players planned a house party despite seeing Jordan Jones and George Edmondson effectively dropped by the club for picking up Fixed Penalties the day after Scot Arfield celebrated his 32nd birthday.

Speaking to Sky Sports Boyd was almost spitting his words out as he expressed his outrage at the players led by starlets Nathan Patterson and Calvin Bassey. The chunky former striker expressed sympathy for Steven Gerrard but at no stage mentioned sanctions, points deductions or matches being postponed by the SFA.

Back in August Boyd told Sun readers:

Boli Bolingoli shouldn’t have been anywhere near Rugby Park last weekend. The moment he stepped onto that pitch as a late substitute was the moment Celtic were breaking the rules.

The SPFL should punish them accordingly and award my old club the three points. Celtic’s failure to control their player also caused their game against St Mirren to be postponed. So why should the Paisley club suffer?

The SPFL should step in and hand the victory and the three points to Jim Goodwin’s side. Celtic’s postponed game against Aberdeen — who have also stepped out of line in the past week — should see both of them lose the points.

Rearranging these games is a cop-out by the SPFL. Neil Lennon and the influential people at Celtic will tell you different, of course.

So far this season seven Ibrox stars have been hit with Fixed Penalties but only Filip Helander, while on international duty, has tested positive.

No matches have been postponed with the SFA and SPFL keeping silent despite the distress message sent out by the club on Sunday night.

In November the Scottish Government praised the Ibrox club for suspending Jordan Jones and George Edmundson within 12 hours of getting Fixed Penalties. So far there has been no comment on FIVE players getting Fixed Penalties with the club taking three and a half days to name the offenders.
