Neil Lennon has claimed that he’s not looking at the SPFL table.

It is an incredible admission and usually comes from managers under pressure trying to give the impression that they are working full out on training with the table a mere snapshot of little relevance.

Should Lennon take a look at the table today he’ll notice that Celtic are currently in second place, 23 points adrift of the leaders. In third spot Aberdeen are five points behind the hoops with three head-to-head matches between the club’s still to be played.

If Lennon wants to know about the gap at the top tonight’s opponents, Kilmarnock are 25 points behind Celtic. After losing at home to St Johnstone Alex Dyer as mutually consented by the Ayrshire club.

The Daily Record reports:

Victory at Kilmarnock tonight feels like a must for Celtic, yet it’s felt that way going into every game for weeks.

Lennon bristled at suggestions it’s now vital in a fight for second place as he said: “That’s not coming into my thinking at all.”

On the fact Aberdeen and Hibs players are even discussing it, he added: “Let’s see. That’s fine. I’ve not even looked at the league table at the minute. I’m just concentrating on getting back to winning ways.”

Celtic go into tonight’s match with one win from six matches in 2021, delving further back the run is eight wins from the last 24 games.

Scott Brown returns from suspension with loan signing Jonjoe Kenny in contention for his debut.
