It is coming from a very low benchmark but after watching his side hang on to a 2-1 win over Motherwell Neil Lennon claimed that it was ‘some of our best football this season’.
For an hour or so Celtic did play well but had managed only two goals, since beating Hamilton 5-1 in the opening match of the season they haven’t scored more than three goals at home in any match.
On the road Celtic have scored five away to Ross County and four last week at Kilmarnock but according to the manager yesterday’s win was a cut above.

I thought we were really good in the first half and even in the second half, it was some of our best football this season.
Stephen Welsh and Odsonne Edouard scored early in each half but Celtic were unable to build on that despite full-back’s Jonjoe Kenny and Greg Taylor having plenty of space to operate in.
When a deflected shot from Allan Campbell flew over Scott Bain the match changed with Motherwell forcing a number of chances.
Lennon took off Taylor, David Turnbull and Albian Ajeti during the second period but none of their replacements made much of an impact although Diego Laxalt, who replaced Taylor made a goal-line clearance in stoppage time.
