A former Evening Times reporter has hosted a podcast claiming that Arsenal have made a solid approach for Odsonne Edouard.

Despite an indifferent season the 22-year-old has scored 21 goals at club level and become the record scorer for the French u-21 side.

Edouard is about to enter the final year on the contract that he signed in 2018 following his £9m transfer from Paris Saint Germain. The French side are believed to be due a healthy chunk of any transfer profit but rather than let the contract run down all of the signs are that Celtic will cash in this summer.

Covering a podcast hosted by Ian McGarry, formerly of the Evening Times and the Daily Mail (Scotland) before moving to London to work for the Daily Mail and The Sun, Football London reports:

Arsenal have made a solid enquiry for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard. That is according to the Transfer Window podcast, who claim the Frenchman is expected to move on in the summer when he will only have a year remaining on his contract with the Scottish giants.

Furthermore, it is claimed that Celtic have named their price for Edouard and it is €25million (£21.6m), which is similar to the fee Arsenal paid for Kieran Tierney in the summer of 2019.

But for the Gunners to repeat that transfer trick they will have to fend off interest from Serie A giants AC Milan and AS Roma, whilst there is the prospect of Edouard reuniting with former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.

The loss of Edouard will leave a big gap in the Celtic side with Albian Ajeti, Leigh Griffiths and Patryk Klimala failing to make any real impression this season.

All three have had stints alongside Edouard this season with Griffiths giving some hints of promise but appearing to lack the fitness to make a regular contribution.
