Celtic fans were put through a range of conflicting emotions last night over Odsonne Edouard.

In early evening Celtic released a video clip of the striker describing some of the 83 goals he has netted since moving to Scotland but later on the Daily Mail went quite strongly with a report that he is set to join Leicester City for £15m.

If that is correct, after Paris Saint Germain get their cut Celtic would be looking at a profit of just £3.6m following his 2018 transfer after a season on loan.

Even with just a year left on his deal, even in a pandemic that price looks to be skinny with £20-25m looking more realistic this summer.

Other than a couple of eternally hopeful fans, most Celtic supporters are resigned to losing their top scorer this summer with ‘What happens next’ the main issue.

Albian Ajeti, Patryk Klimala and Leigh Griffiths haven’t done anything this season to suggest that they are going to plunder the goals next season meaning that another striker will be needed under a new manager if Celtic are to make improvements next season.

Who’ll be in charge and involved in recruitment is a big concern, close to £9m was spent on Ajeti and Klimala with nothing like the return that Edouard has delivered.

There are bound to be other transfer links to Edouard over the coming weeks but the Daily Mail story looks like a reality check as supporters brace themselves for a summer of departures.

Is £15m a fair price for Edouard?

No way, we should chase Leicester at that price
