Luca Connell finally gets to sample Scottish football with the midfielder making his Queens Park debut at home to Stranraer today.

Celtic signed the teenager from Bolton Wanderers in June 2019 but despite the mini-fanfare he has failed to make any impact on Neil Lennon’s squad.

With Olivier Ntcham and Tom Rogic struggling to get into the Celtic side there was no space for Connell who had to settle for a couple of reserve appearances in cup matches last season.

Connell did make it onto the bench for the post Dubai matches at home to Hibs and Livingston in January but dropped out of contention when 13 players returned from self-isolating.

Queens Park are strong favourites to win promotion this season with Ray McKinnon putting together a squad that was mainly playing in the Championship last season.

Queens keeper Willie Muir had a spell with the Celtic youth side a decade ago with Ryan Mullen and Brodie Paterson among the subs.

Today is the final time that Queens Park will play at Hampden Park, from now on all home matches will be played next door on the artificial surface of Lesser Hampden.
