Charlie Nicholas believes that Leigh Griffiths must be embarrassed by his lack of playing time at Celtic.
The striker has been written off at various times since he signed from Wolves in January 2014 but has never been available for selection and used to little as he has since the turn of the year.
Griffiths has scored one goal in 2021 with his last starting appearance coming at the end of January when he was substituted at half-time in the 2-1 home defeat from St Mirren.
John Kennedy has gone with Patryk Klimala or Moi Elyounoussi to partner Odsonne Edouard in his three matches in charge with Griffiths making do with two brief substitute appearances.
This week the uncapped duo of Kevin Nisbit and Che Adams have joined Oli McBurnie and Lyndon Dykes in Steve Clarke’s international squad with Griffiths left out with three months to go until the European Championships.
Covering his column in the Express, the Daily Record reports Nicholas saying:

Things have gone into meltdown for the 30-year-old in the last three months. When it was a big game and Griffiths was on the bench, you always thought he could come on and score a free-kick or a long shot from nowhere.
The fact he only got a handful of minutes at the weekend doesn’t look good. A new manager could come in and accept Griffiths, left, but I just can’t see it.
I don’t understand why the striker isn’t doing everything he can to kick Steve Clarke’s door down and make sure he is in the Scotland squad ahead of this summer’s Euros.
Griffiths has five SPFL matches and however many Scottish Cup games Celtic manage to try and win back a place at Celtic and call up to Euro 2020.
