David Hamilton, chair of the Police Federation has hit out at the players and management at Ibrox over their disgraceful actions last weekend.

Taking their lead from Steven Gerrard and booze fuelled players fans decided to march towards George Square where a huge number of laws were broken. Social distancing was ditched, alcohol was drunk in public with thousands of pounds worth of damage done to Glasgow’s civic square.

Absolutely no punishment has gone the way of the Ibrox club who have signed into a ‘multi-agency’ PR campaign which has dragged Celtic into the spotlight.

Picking up on Hamilton’s interview with Radio Scotland last night, the Daily Record reports him saying:

Rangers was pretty disgraceful at the weekend when we had the celebrations in George Square. Not just in terms of their silence in advance but also in allowing their players to go to the corner of the stadium to cheer along, also in the dressing room, cheering people along and taking footage.

Those behaviours contributed to the problems. We should not forget that. What we really need to see is the clubs making it clear. The First Minister is right, it’s not one statement or one day’s worth of social media, it is about being persistent and consistent.

People are putting the match at risk and things like the Euros at risk with their behaviours. They need to be treated by the clubs with bans and so on.

Ibrox chairman Douglas Park doubled down on the law-breaking by writing to the First Minister that street furniture should have been cleared from George Square to allow fans to congregate.

Despite hanging out of a Dressing Room window to encourage law-breaking no action or Fixed Penalty has been issued against Gerrard.
