John Collins believes that it’s too early for John Kennedy to take over as manager of Celtic.

The 37-year-old has been involved in three management teams and was installed as Interim Manager three weeks ago when Neil Lennon resigned.

Supporters are split over Kennedy’s influence over the team but most want to see an experienced, tried and tested manager installed to minimise risk.

Collins worked alongside Kennedy for two years when Ronny Deila was in charge but doesn’t feel that his colleague is equipped yet for the big job.

Picking up on his appearance on BBC Sportsound last night, The Sun reports Collins saying:

I don’t think so. I think he’s been a fantastic assistant to Brendan [Rodgers] – Brendan speaks very highly of him. He was with me and Ronny [Deila].

He’s got vast experience on the training pitch. There’s no doubt he’s a terrific coach. But it’s a different ball game stepping up to be manager, I think.

Who should be the next Celtic manager?

A variety of names have been linked with the Celtic job but there has been absolutely nothing coming out of the club over who might take over from Neil Lennon.

With Peter Lawwell finally departing it is likely that a Director of Football will be appointed to ensure that decisions are made on footballing grounds rather than accountancy reasons.
