John Kennedy has admitted that he is prepared for the day that he leaves Celtic- which could be just a few months away.

The Interim manager has been the face of the club for two months, trying to get a tune out of a squad that seems to lack focus while facing a stream of questions about his own future and what direction the club is going in.

Every question about a new manager has an added dimension about his own future but Kennedy has never slipped up, answering each question clearly without pushing forward his own case.

Apart from a short spell on loan at Norwich that ended his playing days the 37-year-old has only ever known Celtic since he left school.

A new CEO, manager or Director of Football may see things differently with Kennedy aware that nothing is forever, especially in football.

The Sun reports:

Asked if his future could be elsewhere, he said: “Yeah, it might. You always have to prepare for that as it’s the same year-on-year if anything changes and depending what’s going on. But it’s not something I overly stress about.

“I focus on what I can control at the moment which is preparing the team. Then if a hurdle comes along or a new challenge, whether it’s a change or anything else, I’ll address it and commit to it then. I want to just get this period by with and then we’ll go from there.

“My intention has been purely to lead the club through this period. When the time comes, if somebody wants to sit down and have a chat about how the squad is looking, and what everyone is thinking going forward, then we’ll have that conversation.

“But I’m genuinely not stressed about what the future holds for me. I’ll deal with it if it comes long.”

Kennedy is expecting to meet with Dom McKay on Friday.
