Over the last 30 years Henry Winter has travelled the globe, reporting on football for The Telegraph and most recently The Times.

Last night he was in the Brazen Head.

The contraction of the old newspaper industry has created many casualties with Winter being made redundant by The Times during their latest round of cuts.

Being freelance has opened up some unexpected doors, this weekend The Herald has provided Winter with a press pass for Saturday’s Glasgow Derby which seems to be doubling up as a travel visit.

Glasgow has contrasting attractions, most within two miles of the city centre with Winter discovering a wedding in full throw when he got back to base last night.

Jota dropped in on the Brazen Head just over a year ago, more recently Maik Nawrocki paid a visit to what can only be described as ‘a Celtic shop’.

The history of the club is contained within the walls while the most recent successes are celebrated very visibly on the outside of the Gorbals landmark.

After last night’s visits Winter shouldn’t be short of background for tomorrow’s match.
