Patryk Klimala is reported to be the subject of a loan offer from New York Red Bulls.

The 22-year-old has only started five matches in the 15 months since he joined Celtic in a £3.5m deal from Polish side Jagiellonia.

With an Interim Manager and no Head of Football Operations it is a difficult decision for anyone at Celtic to take with a massive turnover of players expected in the summer.

The Sun reports:

CELTIC striker Patryk Klimala is a target for New York Red Bulls. It’s believed they are eyeing a potential loan deal with the MLS transfer window open until June 1 due to the pandemic.

The Eastern Conference outfit are due to play Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday night. Klimala has managed only three goals in 28 appearances since a £3.5 million move from Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystock in January, 2020.

The 22-year-old has just three league starts with the Hoops and is without a goal since October. And now with three years still left of his contract the club’s considering allowing him to leave for game time and to find some confidence.

Last month Celtic transferred Cameron Harper to New York RB with Andrew Gutman going to the same club on loan after signing for Atalanta United.

Although Klimala seems well out of the picture at Celtic a new manager might look differently on someone who has played for the Poland u-21 side this season.

The MLS season would provide Klimala with an opportunity to get playing time but returning to Celtic next January after six months under a new manager might set his hoops prospects back.

Whoever takes over from Neil Lennon will have some big decisions to make on loan players such as Jack Hendry, Vakoun Bayo and Marian Shved and younger prospects such as Lee O’Connor, Kerr McInroy, Luca Connell and Jonathan Afolabi all due back at the club.
