Kris Ajer is reported to be attracting the interest of Norwich with their Sporting Director watching recent appearances.

The defender joined Celtic five years ago from Norwegian side Start and is widely expected to be sold in the summer as he enters the final year of his contract.

Ajer has been Celtic’s most consistent central defender this season, starting off alongside Chris Jullien, followed by Shane Duffy and now playing alongside Stephen Welsh.

The Sun reports:

NORWICH are eyeing a summer move for Celtic stopper Kristoffer Ajer. Canaries boss Daniel Farke wants a new centre-half after clinching promotion to the Premier League.

Ajer is on his radar as the Norwegian prepares to quit the Hoops, with 12 months left on his deal. SunSport understands Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber has watched Celtic in action over the last few weeks. They could now join Newcastle in the race to sign the 23-year-old in the summer.

Ajer probably has his sights set higher than newly promoted Norwich but the bottom line is that a move to Carrow Road would give him weekly exposure in the EPL.

Virgil van Dijk took a similar route in 2015 with a stint at Southampton opening the door to Liverpool and back-to-back Champions League finals.

Getting an early sale of Ajer would probably help Celtic’s summer plans, allowing the new manager to reinvest with central defence a priority with just Welsh, Nir Bitton available with Jullien expected to be back from injury in September.
