Chris Sutton watched a collection of individuals lose out to a TEAM yesterday at Ibrox.

At various times different arguments could be put forward for a variety of players in the Celtic side but since the opening Derby match in October they have found a variety of ways to lose.

In the first meeting they never had a single shot on target, yesterday at Ibrox they passed up half a dozen great chances including a penalty kick.

Four minutes of stoppage time was played but Celtic could have played all night without finding the net.

When Sutton arrived at Celtic in 2000 he went into a group of players that had lost their way the previous season but with a few careful additions and under the right management sharply turned things round.

Most of the Celtic side yesterday will be elsewhere next season, their opponents seem determined to stay at Ibrox and be part of a developing success.

Sutton watched from the Ibrox commentary platform yesterday, his old club were a sorry mess as they handed over the trophy they have dominated for four years.

The former hoops striker told the Daily Record:

You look at the game and you could say Rangers took their chances and Celtic didn’t but it was much more than that.

I saw a collection of individuals. I saw players who don’t seem to want to be at the club. Rangers have the opposite – and that is the huge difference.

You look at the loan players who will all be gone. Diego Laxalt had a shocker but it was hardly a surprise. It was one thing getting skinned by Joe Aribo, but the lack of effort to get back in was telling.

Jonjoe Kenny wasn’t much better on the other side and you’ve got Mohamed Elyounoussi who is also going and he wasn’t clinical enough where it mattered.

Few tears will be shed for the departed as Celtic fans look for some light and hope in the months ahead as a huge rebuild gets underway.
