Among the many lessons to be taken from this season is the Loan Danger.
With one last chance to salvage something from the season John Kennedy turned to two players on the pay-roll at Everton and AC Milan to deliver the required result. Another from Brighton has been discarded and didn’t even make it onto the bench.
To say that Diego Laxalt and Jonjoe Kenny put in nightmare performances would be an understatement. The Uruguayan was cut open for both goals with the former England u-21 internationalist supplying the killer touch for the second goal.
Laxalt got hooked at half-time, Kenny was probably spared because Anthony Ralston has only played one match in the last 16 months.
Full-backs are now a very important position, Celtic should know since they’ve played enough over the last two seasons.
Since Kieran Tierney left they’ve tried Boli Bolingoli, Greg Taylor, Jonny Hayes and Laxalt on the left. On the other side Hatem Abd Elhamed, Frimpong, Moritz Bauer and Kenny have all been tried.
Celtic have taken in £36m from selling two full-backs. Around the Transfer Window Peter Lawwell usually speaks about emerging stronger once it has closed. Yesterday that policy was there for ridicule.
£25 million for Tierney

Two on loan fullbacks, and it’s not hard to see why the were offloaded. A striker who chucked it at the start of the season. A board who played on the fact there were no supporters around to hold them to account. Rotten from top to bottom at the moment.
