Celtic have announced a weekend boycott of Social Media.

While the club are far from the most engaging their matchday content is now a regular part of the routine for many fans from the team announcement to post match reaction.

Increasingly this season footballers, mainly in England, have been outspoken about abuse they are receiving across Social Media with platforms such as Twitter and Facebook being accused of a lack of interest in the issue.

Last week the English authorities announced a four day boycott with Scottish clubs following suit today.

Twitter has become the main outlet for most clubs to get messages and statements out to supporters, despite the limited content Celtic have over 700,000 followers on Twitter.

The club website is outwith the boycott with fans likely to be keeping a regular eye on the official site for breaking news.
