A deal is in place for Celtic to appoint Ange Postecoglou as manager according to Scott McIntyre, the Tokyo based editor of The Asian Game.
With over 30,000 Twitter followers his views carry some authority although he does add that the move is dependent on Celtic striking a deal with Yokohama Marinos who will have to source a replacement.
In the early hours of this morning Yokohama beat Shimizu S Pulse 2-1 to move into third place in the J League, 15 points behind leaders Kawasaki with three games in hand. In that situation Yokohama won’t be keen on losing their manager unless they have a replacement ready to step straight into the job.
Celtic seemed to turn their attention to Postecoglou on Friday after it was announced that Eddie Howe had pulled out of an agreement to replace Neil Lennon.
With pre-season training starting on June 17 and the opening Champions League qualifier being played on July 20/21 and 27/28 time is against the Celtic hierarchy despite Neil Lennon resigning on February 23.
Amazed that Celtic are the first big club to spot one of the world’s most innovative coaches when no-one else has. A joke of a decision. A massive gamble.
