Chris Sutton is convinced that it is simply a case of timing the announcement for Eddie Howe to become the new Celtic boss.

Throughout April the former Bournemouth boss was the lead contender but nothing was heard directly from Howe or Celtic.

John Kennedy has been left in charge for two months, facing up to the same questions from the media before and after matches leaving fans and the media to try and read between the lines.

With three matches left there is little for anyone to take from this season with fans waiting for the start of the rebuild which is likely to be quickly followed by renewal forms for their Season Tickets.

The manager hunt has summed up Celtic’s season with the board acknowledging SIX MONTHS ago that there was a problem but apparently sitting things out to bring in the right man.

Looking again at the situation, in the Daily Record, Sutton writes:

You have to hope they are just waiting to get the final games out of the way before announcing No.1 choice Eddie Howe as the new gaffer to give him a clean slate and that he is already working away on his plans and squad ideas for next season.

I would not be in the slightest bit surprised if that is happening because, in all honesty, Celtic surely can’t still be fiddling around trying to sort out a new manager.

Surely, it’s all been done in the background and it’s now just all about the timing of the announcement. If it’s not and they really are still on a manhunt, they are in even bigger trouble than I thought. That’s really all that is dominating the minds of the punters right now and I don’t blame them.

After tomorrow’s match Celtic are at home to St Johnstone on May 12 then finish the season away to Hibs three days later.
