As Ange Postecoglou tries to start a new chapter at Celtic one of the key issues of last season has exploded back into the spotlight.
Leigh Griffiths and Neil Lennon have previously been extremely close and supportive of each other but that bond has been smashed over the last few days.
The former Celtic boss has been on a media exercise to rebuild his reputation after a disastrous second stint at Celtic. Everyone else has been to blame, especially new breed supporters with the manager blameless over his inability to manage has been the key message.
When Griffiths disputed some of that on Wednesday’s Radio Scotland Euro 2020 Morning Show it proved too close to the bone for Lennon to resist.
Some of the details reached the airwaves this morning as Lennon gave the lowdown on Griffiths’ lack of professionalism during lockdown.
Coming back a stone overweight in the modern era is quite an achievement- how it was allowed to happen is another matter with every aspect of a player analysed, even during Lockdown.
It seems that there was no early warning system in place at Celtic. Griffiths returned to pre-season training early in June out of shape, news didn’t surface until mid-July when he was missing from the pre-season matches in France.
With Lennon throwing dirt it seems only a matter of time before Griffiths fires back- while he tries to earn a new contract from Postecoglou.
Should Postecoglou offer Leigh Griffiths another contract?
Yes, no brainer, best striker in Scotland
No way, he's had too many chances
??’He’s on full pay for the three months of lockdown and comes back totally out of condition’

Lennon has a nerve speaking about anyone he’s had more problems than most he should have been the one questioned first time around and his going ons at hibs Mr loudmouth indeed

What did Lennon do as the manager to check in on a player with a history of mental health issues?
Nothing? Ok cool… another excuse from Lennon on why nothing is his fault.— P the T (@PtheT) June 24, 2021
Question for Neil. Was his weight and fitness monitored over lockdown. As he had previous issues do no one check his weight and fitness results weekly. Poor management of the player.

Spot on. Literally high school behaviour from someone I genuinely looked up too.

Good that Lennon is being honest here. But I’d also like to hear his total honesty about what REALLY happened behind the scenes to cause such a collapse at the club. Why certain players weren’t played, why some were, why some baffling subs at odd times etc.

The manager turned up as if he’d been on a stag doo for 3 months. Leading by example comes from the manager. The team looked unfit all season. Were they all unprofessional?
It’s another Lennon deflection tactic, he may be right about Griffiths but to absolve himself of any blame?— JMcG ? (@tarmac1888) June 24, 2021
He talked about NL the other day?
100% only one person 2 blame for not getting in2 team or Scotland Squad,&that’s LG— Steff morrow (@rsmorrow1964) June 24, 2021
